Thiruvananthapuram: The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that Hindus should not remain divided or have disagreements in the name of reservations. Inaugurating the Yuva Morcha State Samiti Yogam said that though it was impossible to change the reservation allocated by the Indian Constitution, the BJP was of the opinion that those of forwards castes who were financially downtrodden should also be included in the list of reservations.

“Regarding the issue of reservation, there are extraneous factors that are deliberately trying to create a divide. But they will never be victorious,” said Muraleedharan.

Pointing out how vital it was to implement the General SR Sinhu Commission Report of 2006, Muraleedharan said “the state BJP will convey to the union cabinet that welfare programmes for those of economically backward classes in general category, which include provision for education, health and dwellings be implemented”.

Quoting the words of Mannath Padmanabhan on how “the Nair should become a Hindu and the Hindu, thereafter a human”, Muraleedharan said it was the need of the hour. “It was Mannath Padmanabhan’s wish that NSS College be known as Hindu College, in future.
