Thiruvananthapuram: The term of Dr K Jayaprasad who was appointed in Kasargode Central University as finance officer has been annulled even before the term of deputation came to an end, citing grounds of announcement of election dates. This however stands in gross violation of election rules and regulations. The appointment of Dr Jayaprakash as finance officer has been a sore in the eye for many, with the officer exposing gross financial discrepancies and appointment orders that had taken place during the tenure of former Vice-Chancellors and syndicate members. The matter has been condemned alike by Bharateeya Vichara Kendram and Hindu Aikya Vedi.

“Dr Jayaprasad has been a victim of a joint pact by Marxists and Congress because he was chiefly instrumental in seeking direct CBI inquiry in several  corruption cases involving mammoth sums of money. It was evident that the role of many political leaders would be exposed. Instead of aiding the cause of Dr Jayaprasad for pointing out discrepancies involving the university’s financial sector, he was ruthlessly hounded by being branded as “communal” and “trying to implement RSS agenda”. This is a clear case of intolerance,” said Bharateeya Vichara Kendram.

Taking note of the matter, Hindu Aikya Vedi general secretary Kummanam Rajashekharan has sought repealing the order terminating the term of deputation of Dr Jayaprasad, an associate professor of SN College. “Dr Jayaprasad has raised voice against the rampant cases of corruption. For this very reason he has been removed from a senior official position. This makes it evident that it will create a wrong precedence and it is infringement of basic courtesy. The law clearly state that deputation should not be terminated or transfer be implemented during times of election. It has also been repeatedly stated that all officers of Central University and SN College continue in their posts of deputation. Under such circumstances, Dr Jayaprasad must be allowed to continue in his current post,” said Kummanam.
