DEVASWOM MINISTER REFUTES CHARGES
From Mahavev
Kochi, Nov 04
The Kerala Minister for Devaswoms Mr K C Venugopal has refuted the allegations that the government was trying to bring in restrictions on the recruitments to the Travancore Devaswom Board.
Reacting to the reports in the media, he said that the government had received complaints about corruption in the appointment and hence the government had asked the Board to suspend the recruitments temporarily. Besides the government has no plans to transfer the recruitments to the Public Service Commission.
The government is seriously considering to bring in transparency in the recruitment process and this issue would be discussed with all the Hindu organisations. No decision would be taken against the religious beliefs and rituals, he added.
Meanwhile, Mr Punalur Madhu, TDB member, said that the government’s suggestion would be discussed by the Board on Nov 08. He said that in past also the government had intervened and stopped recruitments.
