Kochi, Dec 25

The Guruvayur Devaswom, ignoring the protests and opposition by various Hindu organisations, said to have paid Rs 11,03,255 to a PR company towards the charges for advertising a global tender issued by the government for preparing a master plan for Guruvayur.

The government has issued the tender advertisement without the permission of the Guruvayur Devaswom Board. In fact, Devaswom Funds are not supposed to be used to meet the government expenses.

There are also apprehensions now that the Devaswom funds would be sought for meeting the cost of developmental works in the Guruvayoor area besides making a move to shift the Guruvayurappan’s Rs350 crore deposits to the government treasury.

Where as the government does not have any idea about what exactly are the assets of other religious establishments in the state, needless to mention about touching a single penny held by them.
