Minority managements pull the strings to corner vast area of land

The Christian and Muslim managements, which are running the majority of educational institutions in Kerala, are understood to have pulling the strings to get the land worth an estimated Rs 1,500 crore, currently under their possession in various districts, legally assigned to them.

They are already in possession of vast area of land, more than what is actually needed, in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Malapuram and Wayanad. In these districts there are managements having 7 to 52 acres of land under their possession. Now they are reportedly, pressuring the government to give them title deeds for the entire land held by them at Rs100 per cent.

The government early this week had given title deeds to the NSS for the lands where its two colleges, MG College, Thiruvananthapuram and the other at Niramankara, are functioning. This decision by the UDF government, probably to appease the NSS to give up its “rhetoric of equi-distance” in the ensuing assembly elections, is being taken as a precedence by the Christian and Muslim managements.
