Aranmula temple fest from Friday

PATHANAMTHITTA: The annual 10-day festival of the Aranmula Sree Parthasarathi temple will be held from January 20 to January 29.

The ‘kodiyettu;, marking the beginning of the temple festival, will be held between 10.05 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. under the leadership of Kuzhikattillathu Narayanan Vasudevan Bhattathiri.

The cultural meeting to be held at 3 p.m. will be presided over by Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president G. Raman Nair. Sabarimala special commissioner G. Sreevallabhan will inaugurate the meeting.

TDB member M.B. Sreekumar will distribute the grant to the ‘palliyodams’.

Kathakali will be held on January 21 and January 26. ‘Garudavahana’ procession will be taken out at 2 a.m. on January 24.

‘Pallivetta’ will be held on January 28 and the ‘arattu’, marking the conclusion of the festival, will be held on January 29.

Cine actress Kavya Madhavan’s dance programme will be held at 11 p.m. on January 24 as part of the festival.
