CPM proves pseudo-secular by excluding VS

The BJP President, Mr P S Sreedharan Pillai said that the CPM’s decision to exclude Mr V S Achuthanandan from the assembly elections had given credence to the party’s argument that the CPM was a pseudo-secular party.

Mr Pillai addressing a press conference here condemned the decision of the CPM and described it as an “appeasement of the minorities, who the CPM feared would not support the LDF if Mr Achuthanandan was given a ticket”. VS has been denied the ticket because he belonged to a backward Hindu community and hence “he is an insulted Hindu now”.

He alleged that the both the LDF and UDF were sabotaging the vigilance probe into the SNC Lavlin deal. A crucial file on the Lavlin case is missing and when the Vigilance SP tried to trace it he was transferred, he alleged. “the file is  still missing and nothing is being done to locate it. This apart, Vigilance cases on the siphoning off of Rs 31 crore from the Kottayam Cooperative Bank, Rs six crore fraud at the Elamkulam Cooperative Bank, Lower Periyar project, misappropriation of funds at the Matsyafed and corruption in importing palm oil were hushed up. In all these cases, either the Congress or CPM leaders were involved”, he said.

“Both the fronts are detrimental for the prosperity and communal harmony of the state. The BJP will launch a drive to make the people aware of it”, Mr Pillai said.

On the BJP contesting the assembly elections, he claimed, the voice of the party would be heard in the Assembly this time.
