Athirathram Concludes

The Yagasala at Moolencode near Vadakkencheri was consigned to flames on Sunday following the conclusion of the 12-day athirathram.

The hothan, Ravi Namboothiri, chanted the 1000 manthras in 3 hours an 20 minutes. Manthras were chanted to to propitiate the Aswini devas.

Later, the ‘hari yojanam’ was performed to complete the homam of the soma. The various homas done by the hirthics were also completed.

The ”kalpaprayaschitha homam’ and the ‘neishtina homam’ were performed. So also the ‘avadhyadha snanam. Later, the agni in the chithi was converted into the ‘loka agni’ as the Yagamanan came out of the Yagasala.

The yagasala was consigned to the flames around 8.30 p.m.
