Kozhikode : The BJP President, Mr P S Sreedharan Pillai has asked the UDF government to bring out a white paper on the financial condition of the state.

Speaking at a face to face programme organised by the Kozhikode Press Club Mr Pillai said that both fronts had been misguiding the people of Kerala about the financial condition of the state.

When the LDF came to power in 1996 the state’s total debts were to the tune of Rs1,000 crore and after five years’ when it left it rose to Rs27,113 crore. Their successors who took over in 2001 with the promise that they would make the state free from debts, have successfully raised it to Rs47,791 crore. In five years it borrowed Rs30,000 crore, and surprisingly not a single percentage of these funds were invested in agriculture or industry, he alleged.
