MALAPPURAM: Historian M.S. Jayaprakash has taken exception to certain remarks made by M.G.S. Narayanan on Karl Marx during a seminar organised by the Sanathana Dharma Chair of Calicut University recently.

In a statement here, Jayaprakash termed the remarks of MGS as ‘contemptible’ and ‘smacks of ignorance’.

“In his speech MGS attacked Marx over the latter’s opinion that Indians were worshipping monkeys and elephants. MGS said that there are fools who subscribe to the views of Marx even in India,” he said.

“It is a truth that even today there are temples in India where rats and monkeys are worshipped. Marx was only stating this historical reality of India in his book. The reading by MGS, in contrast to the reality will lead to the creation of only fools,” said Jayaprakash.
