BJP national vice president Venkaiah Naidu has said that there will not be any major change in the policy followed by party unit in the State and it will stick to its Hinduvta agenda.

Speaking to the media after the conclusion of the two-day State leadership meet here on Sunday, he alleged that the two fronts in Kerala were vying each other for appeasing minority votebanks in the State. He said that the BJP would not change its policy for gaining minority votes. He added that it was high time the minorities in the State changed their outlook towards the BJP. Naidu expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the State unit of the party. He also asked them to be the real alternative in the State.

The BJP leader denied reports of rumblings in the State unit of the party and accused the media of making a concerted attack on the party. However, he admitted that the negative role played by a section of the leaders in the campaign for the Assembly polls.

He came down heavily on the CPI(M) for remaining a mute spectator to the anti-people policies followed by the UPA Government led by Manmohan Singh. “If the CPI(M) had intervened effectively, they could have restrained the UPA from following the anti-people policies to an extent,” he said. He criticized the CPI(M) for its “double standards” followed in Kerala and West Bengal. “The party observed a hartal in Kerala whereas comrades in West Bengal did not have any protest against the fuel price hike,” he quipped.

The BJP leader expressed his party’s concern over the food policy followed by the Government. He maintained that the party would organize agitations against the anti-people policies of the UPA Government from July. Earlier, speaking at the meeting, party State president PS Sreedharan Pillai urged the national leadership to take strict action based on the report on the party’s dismal performance in the Thiruvanthapuram by-election. “The party can regain its lost credibility only by taking strict actions,” he said.

Pillai criticised the media for resorting to personal annihilation. The State leadership of the party that met here for two days formed a three-member committee with KP Sreesan as convener to find out the reasons for the BJP’s disappointing performance in the Assembly polls.
