KOCHI: Kerala High Court slammed  Home minister Kodiyer Balakrishnan in his interference with Judiciary to grant Parole to his well wishers and CPM Goons convicted by the criminal court.Court warned him not to act as a superman in granting parole to the CPM thugs in jail hurling all the regulations to the wind

The Division bench including Justice JB Koshi and Justice K Padmanabhan Nair had said that the State Home Minister had no legal right to issue parole to the prisoners and the right rests with the government. As per the existing rules the maximum parole period for a prisoner is limited to 45 days. The Court has cleared that there are prisoners who got the parole period of 210 to 300 days is evident in the jail records.

Such redundant actions from the minister’s to safeguard the criminal elements are a challenge to the democratic society and moreover breech of the pledge which they took while sworn in as ministers. A Home Minister’s role is not to look after the criminals but to safe guard citizens from those criminals.
