via Pioneer News Service | Thiruvananthapuram published on August 12, 2006

Security has been tightened at important installations across Kerala in the wake of the nationwide alert against possible terrorist strikes ahead of the Independence Day celebrations in the State.

Security has been strengthened at airports, major railway stations and places of worship. A close watch on foreigners visiting the State was also being kept, police said. People moving around ISRO’s facilities including VSSC at Thumba were also under surveillance.

The Central Stadium where the Independence Day celebrations are scheduled to be held and where Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan will take the salute is currently under police control.
