Sree Krishna Jayanthi celebrated

Thiruvananthapuram:The janmashtami festival by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and Sobhayatra procession by Balagokulam marked the ashtamirohini celebrations in the city on Thursday.
The janmashtamai festival at VJT Hall began with a Bhagavatha katha pravachan followed by bhajans, readings from scriptures and chanting. Various cultural shows and competitions for children were held as part of the festival.
A spiritual multimedia presentation was also organised. Pavilions showcasing literature on spirituality and vedic philosophy were also set up at the festival venue. Hundreds of children dressed as Krishna and gopikas took part in the Sobhayatra. The sobhayatra which began from Museum grounds concluded at East Fort.
Cultural shows were also staged as part of the Krishna jayanti celebrations. Special rites were conducted at temples on the occassion. Sree Krishna temples in the city witnessed heavy rush of devotees.
