‘Poonthanam Illam’ should be made into a research center

Malappuram : The ‘Poonthanam Illam’ protection committee has asked the Kerala govt to develop the ‘Poonthanam Illam’ into a research  centre for Indian devotional literature where there should be facilities for imbibing the values of the Vedas, Mahabharat and Ramayana to the common man. The committee, in its master plan of the Poonthanam memorial has requested the Devaswom Board to organise a 3-day ‘Poonthanam celebration’ at the illam premises into order maintain the aspirations of the great personality that is poonthanam. The committee in their directive to the Devaswom Boards has put forward a number of suggestions like starting a study centre for the revival of temple arts like Panchavadyam, an orphanage for the destitute children and a Saraswati mandapam for conducting Vidyarambham.
