via Pioneer News Service | Kochi published on October 28, 2006

In a revelation that indicates how terror networks had been spreading across India, Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan on Saturday said there is enough evidence to prove that terrorism in the state is being sponsored by Pakistan.

Achuthanandan said, “There are more than enough indications to show that Pakistan-sponsored terrorism is taking roots in certain parts of the state. Both Centre and state security forces need to work in close co-operation to counter this new threat.” Though the Left has so far not shown any signs of reviewing its strategy on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, Achuthanandan is the second Communist Chief Minister after his West Bengal counterpart to express concern at the growing menace.

His worries are bound to increase as, following the e-mail threat to Prime Minister during his Kerala visit, it’s been revealed that Mohammad Fahad, one of the two Pakistani militants arrested in Mysore, is based in Kozhikode. The ISI links in the Marad carnage is also to be probed, said the Chief Minister.
