Six CPI-M workers held guilty of murdering BJP worker
Kannur : A court in Kerala today held six CPI-M activists guilty of murdering a BJP worker near Kuthuparamba in December 2000.
Thalassery’s Additional District Sessions (fast track) Judge A A Vijayan held the six guilty of murdering 40-year-old C K Chandran under the IPC and the Explosive Substance Act.
The court acquitted three other accused, also members of the CPI-M, for want of evidence.
The court will sentence the six guilty persons on November 4.
Tight security arrangements were made around the court in view of the judgement in the sensitive case and several people, including CPI-M leaders, were present in the premises.
Chandran was stabbed to death on December 3, 2003 at his residence in Mangattidam, about 20 km from here, by a group of CPI-M workers who also hurled bombs at his house.
