Krishnadas vows to make BJP third force in Kerala

 Thiruvananthapuram:Newly-elected State BJP president PK Krishnadas assumed office on Friday.

Krishnadas, who was on his maiden visit to the capital after his election as the party chief, was given a rousing welcome by workers at the railway station.

Former BJP president CK Padmanabhan, KV Sridharan Master, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) State general secretary K Venugopal and a host of party leaders accompanied him.

Reaching the party’s State office, the Mararji Smrithi Mandiram, Krishnadas offered floral tributes to late KG Marar.

Later, at a meet the press, Krishnadas said all his efforts would be aimed at developing the party as a third political force in the State. “There is a space for the BJP in Kerala and it must not be left vacant,” said Krishnadas.

He said the party is mooting strategies for the upcoming Thiruvambady by-polls and is planning whether to field a candidate or become the main factor by not fielding a candidate. “The State is in the grip of terrorist outfits, with scores of evidences to prove the allegation. Both the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) and Left Democratic Front (LDF) are providing fodder for these outfits. I will not be surprised if an ISI based organisation with recruits comes to Kerala and launches an outfit, the LDF and UDF will include them in their respective fronts,” said Krishnadas.

Krishnadas said the five months of Achuthanandan rule is a continuation of the UDF rule and is a complete failure. He was especially critical of the Home Ministry which he said had totally failed in all departments.

“The department that has recruited an adviser paying a salary of Rs 50,000 is incapable of even directing the Prime Ministers motorcade,” he said.

The BJP president strongly objected the move to bring the Devaswoms under Government control.

“The move is to topple existing structure and Marxitise the Devaswoms. We respect the autonomy and freedom given to other community institutions to run their places of worship. Same freedom must be given to Hindus also,” said Krishnadas.
