Kerala BJP to form human check dam in five districts

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP would form “human check dam” in five districts near the Mullaperiyar reservoir, whose storage level has crossed the maximum 136 feet, on November 27 to protest the government ‘failure’ in taking steps to allay the apprehension of the people on the issue, the party’s Kerala unit President N K Krishnadas said. Instead of turning the Mullaperiyar issue into a “Tamilian and Keralites one,” the matter should be resolved in a national perspective, he told reporters here.

The party would hold ‘anti-terrorism rally’ in Kozhikode on November 21, he said.

On the recent decision of CBI not to take up the SNC-Lavalin case,Krishnadas said it was because of a “secret understanding” between the Congress and CPI-M.

Krishnadas said as a Canadian firm was involved in the case, only a CBI probe would bring out the truth. The case related to the award of contract for renovation of three hydro electric projects to a canadian company by the then LDF government in 1996.

He described as ‘total failure’ the six-month rule of the CPI-M-led LDF government in Kerala.

“The LDF government is a carbon copy of the previous UDF government in all respects,” he said.

The LDF government’s functioning has been marred due to the internal bickerings in the CPI-M state unit as was the case with the previous UDF government when faction feud in the congress affected its functioning.

Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan failed to resolve any of the issues taken up by him when he was the Opposition leader, Krishnadas charged.
