Ramakrishna Mission releases annual report

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama Charitable Hospital has released the annual report of the Ramakrishna Mission governing body for 2005-’06.

A statement said that the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission together undertook extensive relief and rehabilitation programmes in several parts of the country during the year, involving an expenditure of Rs 14.34 crore.

The mission also undertook welfare work by way of scholarships to poor students, pecuniary help to the old, sick and destitute to the tune of Rs 5.23 crore. Medical services was rendered to more than 82.71 lakh people through 15 hospitals and 178 dispensaries, incurring an expenditure of Rs 51.45 crore.

Nearly 9.25 lakh students, including 2.88 lakh girls, are studying in their education institutions and Rs 98.71 crore was spent for the same in the year. As many as Rs 17.94 crore was spent on rural and tribal development projects. Five new centres were started during the year.

Apart from this, a new sub-centre was started at St Louis in the US and three sub-centres of Sao Paulo Centre were started in Brazil. A new math centre was started at St Petersburg, Florida, in the US.

The annual general meeting of the Ramakrishna Mission was held at the Belur Math on December 17.
