Sankaracharya awards announced

KOCHI: The fourth national Sree Sankaracharya awards constituted for young artists in the field of music and dance have been announced.

T P Vidyamol and K V Sreelekha for bharatanatyam, Anita Potti and Sangeetha S Menon for mohiniyattom, and B Bhavyalakshmi Saji and Priya R Pai for classical music were selected for this year’s awards.

They were selected on the basis of the accreditation they received from the Sree Sankara Assessment and Accreditation Council, Kalady. They will showcase their talents at the third National Sree Sankara Music and Dance Festival, to be held as part of the Sree Sankara Jayanthi.

Bhavyalakshmi has been in the field of classical music for the past 24 years. She is doing her PhD under Calicut University. Priya R Pai is a music teacher with Vidyodaya Higher Secondary School.
