Book Fair and Symposium on the History of India’s freedom movement

Changanacherry: Changanacherry, the birthplace of Bharathakesari Mannathu Padmanabhan is all spruced up for the book-fair to be hoisted by Kerala’s noted publisher, Kurukshetra Prakasan.

The book fair at Veluthampidalavanagar (Perunna Municipal Bus-stand Complex) that spans over six days from May 30^th will have more than 15 stalls exhibiting around 35000 titles, most of them indological books from leading publishers, both Indian and foreign.

The fair conducted in connection with the 150^th anniversary of India’s first war of independence of 1857 would feature a series of symposia and academic deliberations focusing on the history of India’s freedom movement and many burning questions, and literary evenings including poets meet.

Leading figures from different walks like Transport Minister Mathew T Thomas, MLAs C. F. Thomas and P. C. Vishnunath, journalist K. M. Roy, noted litterateurs P. Madhavan Pillai, M. Achuthan, Ettumanur Somadasan, Thuravoor Viswambharan, Dr. A. M. Unnikrishnan and Poet D. Vinayachandran would participate in the discussions.

The History session of 4^th May that zeroes in on the history of India’s freedom movement will have Prof. P. C. Menon, Dr. C. I. Issac, Kootil Muhammad, T. G. Mohandas, Dr. T. S. Girishkumar and Dr. M. P. Ajithkumar on the dias.

The six-days long fair to be inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jansi James will have its valedictory session inaugurated by Transport Minister Mathew T Thomas on 5^th May.
