ABVP to conduct National Seminar on Minority Rights in Education Sector
In Kerala more than 80% of the educational institutions are under the control of minorities and the recent court verdict has become handy for them to do a flourishing business on the educational sector. In Kerala, with the recent court verdict it will become impossible for the economically and socially backward Hindus to get admission to professional colleges which are mainly controlled by all these so called “minority†mask worn lobby. To appease minorities, the section 93 of the constitution has been excluded in Kerala there by denying reservation to SC/ST communities in private owned professional colleges.
The National Minority Education Commission’s orders have paralysed the state education department and they have become helpless in this situation. On this context to explain to the nation the situations arising out of the appeasement policy and the court order ABVP is planning to hold a national debate on Minority Rights in Education Sector on May 16 and 17th at Cochin. This was announced in a press meet by P.Sandeep National Secretary ABVP.
Ex-Central Minister and renowned scholar Mr. Subramaniam Swami will inagurate the seminar. Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr. V.S Acharya will preside over the meeting. The key note address will be delivered by former Bihar Governor and ex- chief justice of Punjab-Haryana HC Sri. M.Rama Jois.
Leading personalities including Justice K.T Thomas, S.Gurumurthy, P.Parameswaran, T.M Jacob, E.T Muhammad Basheer will deliver speeches on various sessions. The concluding speech will be done by famous educationalist P.V Krishnabhatt. Over 150 selected representatives from all over India will take part in this 2 day seminar and debate.
By granting minority status to educational institutions in Kerala, the SC/ST communities have lost around 50-60 Medical seats and around 1000 engineering seats. Sandeep demanded the immediate withdrawal of the minority status and asked to dismiss the central minority commission. The minority commission has set a bad precedent by granting rights to all institutions without checking the facts and figures and thereby putting the educational sector in a big crisis. To overcome this, we need to discuss and come up with an action plan which will be beneficial for the underprivileged and economically backward people in the society. He asked the state government to take counter steps to overcome this situation rather than just playing the blame game.ABVP state president S.Manu, Organization Committee General secretary K.G Venugopal, Vice president N.Nagaresh were also present in the press meet.
