Sudeesh lashes out at CPM official faction, Azeekode

Professor Sudeesh, the editor of Padom magazine and a close associate of the late Professor MN Vijayan, has lashed out at the CPI(M) official faction and party mouthpiece of having accused him of being instrumental in the death of the thinker and writer activist.

Prof Vijayan breathed his last while addressing a Press conference in Thrissur the other day .The CPI(M) organ Deshabhimani had come out with an article that Professor Sudeesh was primarily responsible for Vijayan’s death as he had brought him to the Press club for a conference even though he was too ill to even walk let alone talk .

Sudeesh told mediapersons that as the official organ of the CPI(M) had openly come out against him then Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan should direct the police to file a case against him (Sudeesh) and to conduct a detailed investigation into the allegations .

Sudeesh also lashed out against thinker and literary critic Dr Sukumar Azeekode and said that he was expressing the feelings of Pinarayi Vijayan and MA Baby while criticising him and added that Azeekode did not have any idea of the issues behind these criticisms.

He also came out strongly against writers Balachandran Chullikad and Ashokan Cheruvil and said that Professor MN Vijayan had himself expressed his willingness to address the Press and to make clear the position taken by Padom magazine in criticising the Kerala Shastra Sahitya Parishad, a CPI(M) controlled organisation .

Padom and its associates Prof Vijayan and Prof Sudeesh had been relentless in their criticism against the recent actions taken by the CPI(M) and the manner in which the Shastra Sahitya Parishad had been accepting donations from even foreign countries in the name of promoting the scientific talent of students and youth . Padom had in an article said that the Parishad had received foreign funds by associating with the Centre for Development Studies . The State Finance Minister and CPI(M) official faction leader Dr.Thomas Issac was closely associated with CDS . The CPI(M) leadership was sore that the charges levelled by Padom and M.N.Vijayan were directed towards it and this had led to a case being filed against the magazine and its associates like Prof Vijayan and Prof Sudeesh .

Prof Vijayan has infact addressed the Press conference on the fateful day to announce the details of the court verdict which had let him and Sudeesh off and others connected with Padom in the contempt case filed by Parishad .The court had observed that the article written in the magazine was in accordance with relevant details as the Parishad itself had admitted that it had received foreign funds .

It may be recalled that Prof Vijayan was a close associate of the CPI(M) and all the other affiliated organizations of the left movement and had once been a darling of the party masses owing to his no nonsense style of writing and clear ideological moorings to Left ideology..
