Malayali jawan killed

ALAPPUZHA: An Army jawan, hailing from Thottappally near Ambalapuzha, was killed in Rajasthan when a tent at an Army training camp was gutted on Monday.

The Army officials conveyed the news of the death of Lance Naik Sreenijan, 26, to his family at Thottappally on Tuesday morning over phone.

Sreenijan, son of Chandran, Veliyil House, who was recently transferred from Punjab to Rajasthan, visited his home before going to Rajasthan.

His body would be brought to Thiruvananthapuram airport on Wednesday morning and from there it would be taken to his residence in Thottappally in a specially arranged vehicle.

He is survived by mother Prabha, wife Praveena and sister Sreeja.
