Plan for webcasting Sabarimala invites sharp criticism in State

Pathanamthitta: Hindu orgainsations opined that the Devaswom president was making announcements that humiliated the Hindus of the State.

“The Puja procedures taking place inside the sanctum sanctorum are not for filming like for a cinema. These are very pious rituals and one has to respect that. You can believe in Ayyappa or not, but it does not mean that you can go in for any kind of plan that would violate basic religious rites,” said a representative of the Hindu Aikyavedi.

He said the TDB president was resorting to gimmicks as he had failed in arranging basic amenities for the crores of devotees who would visit the hill shrine this pilgrimage season starting November 17. “No arrangements have been completed. There is no drinking water project, no facilities for garbage removal… The toilets have not yet been constructed and the doctors are now saying that they would boycott Sabarimala duty. It is amidst all this that Guptan wants to webcast Lord Ayyappa. It is ridiculous,” he said.
