Devotees Taken for a Ride, in Sabarimala

Sabarimala:The Hindu organisations are sore that Sabarimala devotees are taken for a ride by the board which is packed with non believers. Hindu Aikya Vedi leader Kummanam Rajashekharan has already said that there was a total lack of efficiency in the higher echelons of those who were governing the board and that this was creating a tough time for the devotees who were reaching the hill shrine from far off places. The recent decision of the board to restrict the Aravana intake to five bottles has caused great unrest among the devotees who are coming from every nook and corner of the country.

Aravana being the major offering of the Lord at Sabarimala, a devotee who goes back home without an Aravana is considered to have shown little interest in the affairs of the Lord. This can even lead to serious family problems with the relatives including women waiting for offering prayers of the Lord.

The question being asked by the Hindu organisations is that the Travancore Dewaswom board is not doing anything to clear the woes of the devotees. The leaders of the Hindu organisations pointed out that the Sabarimala season takes place every year and the present condition of the roads were owing to the lack of funds.

The leaders argued that Sabarimala being a Hindu pilgrimage with tough restrictions and the manner in which the TDB was managing things in this temple area was bringing contempt and ire among a major cross section of devotees.

The LDF Government is in a soup over the Sabarimala issue as the Government has not done anything for the millions of devotees who are supposed to throng the hill shrine during the season.

While a lack of proper understanding on the part of the Government seems to be the major issue regarding the inconvenience meted out to the devotees , the total lack of coordination between the Government and the Dewaswom board which is in charge of the temple administration is also seen as a major hindrance in running the activities of the temple .

The devotees are subjected to major hardships owing to the failure of the Government to take proper action in advance with months left for the commencement of the season .

The hill shrine opens for the season on the Malayalam month of Vrishikam first and each year the same cycle is repeated.

The Government which knows the potential of the temple has not done anything for the pilgrims who reach this temple from all corners and the approach roads to Pampa are totally dilapidated thereby causing huge problems to the devotees.
