Assault-Oxygen parlours, stretcher service stop functioning in Sabarimala
SABARIMALA: The functioning of the oxygen parlours on the trekking path between Pampa and Sannidhanam and the stretcher service came to a standstill on Tuesday following the return of 160 volunteers to Tamil Nadu.
They decided to return in protest against the manhandling of volunteer at Marakottam on Monday by the police.
The volunteer group, arranged by the Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sanghom, comprises of college students from Tamil Nadu.
Following the assault, the volunteers had demanded action against the erring cops.
However, the police authorities at the sannidhanam refused to take action against the cops.
The volunteer, Ashok kumar, 18, of KKC College, Salem, was assaulted by a group of six policemen at Marakkoottam on Monday evening.
He suffered serious injuries and was admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
The stretcher service undertaken by the volunteers also came to a standstill following the incident.
