THRISSUR: Hindu Aikya Vedi and Kshetra Raksha Samithi have demanded the restoration of 1.42 acres of land assigned to Koodalmanikyam temple at Irinjalakkuda by the Maharaja of Kochi.

The Magistrate Court is functioning in the building on the land.

Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, the office-bearers of these organisations said that following the construction of the mini-civil station at Irinjalakkuda, all the other offices formerly functioning in the building had been shifted to the mini-civil station and only the Magistrate Court was remaining to be shifted.

They said that in the new mini civil station , space has been provided for the Magistrate Court.

They alleged that some of the members of Irinjalakkuda Bar Association were against shifting the court to the new premises as it would be inconvenient for them to attend the court.

They pointed out that the space provided for the Magistrate Court in the new mini-civil station was being utilised at present by the lawyers as their rest room.
