ALAPPUZHA: The state unit of the BJP has resolved to firm up ties with the social organisations like NSS, SNDP and the Vishwakarma Sabha to form a third alternative ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.

The discussion at the first day of the three-day state leadership meet, which began at the Sealap Hotel here on Tuesday, echoed the need to broad base the BJP’s ties with powerful organisations working in the social and political spheres of the State. BJP national vice-president Balbir B Punj inaugurated the leadership meet.

C K Padmanabhan, who presented the political line at the meeting, said that the strengthening of ties with social organisations held the key to further success for the BJP in future elections and said the line taken by the party state council held at Kochi recently should be implemented by the party.

Former state BJP president P S Sreedharan Pillai advocated strongly for opposing Congress in the state tooth and nail.
