Asramam grounds prepared to welcome one lakh Swayamsevaks

Kollam is readying to see the might of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh, the largest voluntary cultural organization in the world. Apart from 1 lakh swayamsewaks in uniform, almost the same number of women audience and sympathizers will grace the Asramam grounds. The sprawling ground of 40 acres, which was covered with wild bushes, has been given the sanctity of a red carpet, of course with hard work of many days. And the seating arrangements for 1 lakh people have been demarcated on the ground overnight with the efforts of 250 volunteers. Other than this, for sympathizers and people who would find it difficult to sit on the ground, thousands of chairs (all same type and colour) have been arranged.

When seen from the stage, which has 3 levels, the last person on the ground can be seen only as a tiny dot, and vice versa is the view from end of the ground to the stage. In order to resolve the distance and clarity issues, huge LCD screens have been brought from Chennai. Electricity supply is taken care of by 16 huge generators. Hundreds of loudspeaker boxes have been deployed for sound arrangements. A special stage has been set up for the 40 district sanghachalaks to sit, adjacent to which is the seating arrangements for media persons from the state and outside. Some of the TV channels are covering the event live. The Sarsanghachalak, who reaches Kollam in the morning, would reach the entrance of the grounds by 4.57 pm.

The Pranthasanghik would start with the 1.5 lakh-strong swayamsewaks rendering the Sarsanghachalak pranam to the Sanghachalak, who will reach the main stage by 5 pm. Other than Mohan Bhagawat, those on the stage at the top include RSS southern region sanghachalak Vannirajan, state sanghachalak PEB Menon, sahasanghachalak Adv. KK Balaram, organising committee chairman Prof. V Ramachandran Pillai and pranthapracharak A Gopalakrishnan. P Gopalankutty Master would introduce the dignitaries who take part in the sanghik. The Sarsanghachalak’s speech would be translated by pranthapracharak A Gopalakrishan.

The second level of the stage would have seating arrangements for revered sanyasis on the left side and vibhak pracharaks on the right side. The third level of the stage has seating arrangements for leaders of sangh parivar organizations. The seating arrangements are for 275 people.

A special structure has been erected in front of the stage for hoisting the Bhagawadhwaj. The flag mast is 50 feet tall. The last round of preparations were overseen by kshetriya pracharak, S Sethumadhavan, state sanghachalak PEB Menon, kshetriya karyavah AR Mohanan, pranthapracharak AR Mohanan, and prantha sahasanghachalak KK Balaram. Hundreds of swayamsewaks including sahapranthpracharak J. Nandakumar, vibhag karyavah Rajan Karoor and vibhak pracharak K Sudarsan are involved in making arrangements for the mahasanghik forsaking food and sleep. J Nandakumar said that a programme of this scale has so far not been held elsewhere.
