Communist Double Standrads- Loyal for Chinese Cause and Gimmicks for Keralite’s cause!

Thiruvananthapuram: Recent days witnessed a spate of agitations by the CPI and the CPM calling for the restoration of Kerala’s rice quota. The agitation gimmicks included blockading of central government buildings and disrupting rail and road traffic in Kerala. One wonders what impact such agitation methods will have other than to harass the Kerala public already reeling under the burden of price rise.

 

Surely the CPM which keeps the UPA government afloat has more effective methods to get what it wants? The Marxist party displayed the leverage it has on the government when it effectively stalled the implementation of the Indo US nuclear deal. The CPM only had to say that it would pull down the government if it went ahead with the deal and Mr. Manmohan Singh immediately put the deal on ice.

 

Did anyone saw, DYFI   squatting on railway lines to halt the nuclear deal? Similarly, the DMK had had its way   when the issue of the privatization of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation came up. At that point, Mr. Karunanidhi told Sonia that he would pull the plug on the Central government if the privatization move went ahead and that was that. The DMK did it for Tamil Nadu. Whose interest was CPM protecting?

 

International experts say that the stoppage of the nuclear deal with

America

is crucial for the geopolitical isolation of

India

and were done at the behest of

China

.

 

I wish that the CPM would give the same priority to the interest of the people of Kerala as it has to Chinese geopolitical interests.
