Triprayar Sree Rama Swami temple looted
THRISSUR: In a shocking incident, some unidentified persons broke into the Triprayar Sree Rama Swami Temple here and made away with cash, gold ornaments, and silver articles early this morning. The temple authorities estimated a loss of 10 million.
The robbers broke open the sanctum sanctorum and decamped with a Panchaloha Thidambu (replica of the idol which could be taken out of the sanctum sanctorum for certain rituals), another Silver Thidambu and nine silver pots. They also took away the gold ornaments of the chief priest stored in a box there.
They also broke open the four hundis placed in front of the sanctum sanctorum and decamped with the currencies, but abandoned the coins. A police team led by superintendent of police reached the spot and started investigation in connection with the incident. Cochin Devaswom Board president T G Ravi, devaswom commissioner Chandrashekhara Babu and vigilance officer P M Subrahmaniyan have also reached the spot.
