Kodungallur, the temple town, is tense following the recent murder of DYFI local leader Biju and the atrocities committed by the DYFI and the CPI(M) after the murder. Even as a strong police contingent was present, a group of 15 unidentified masked men attacked the house of a local DYFI worker Shameer in the wee hours of Monday .

Police have been mute spectators to the whole issue and BJP State president PK Krishnadas has told mediapersons the other day that the top police officers should also be named culprits in the first information report (FIR) regarding the Kodungallur incidents.

DYFI and CPI(M) men had gone on a rampage even as the news of Biju’s death had arrived in the town, destroying buses, shops and establishments. The BJP State president had alleged that a loss of more than 4 crores was reported in the attack and violence unleashed by DYFI and CPI(M) men.

The CPI(M) district leadership however said that the party has no role in the violence unleashed in Kodungallur and added that it was a group of criminals in the garb of party workers who had created problems in the area. CPI(M) district secretary Baby John while speaking to reporters said that the party would look into the incidents and would bring to book the real culprits.
