KOCHI: The statement filed on behalf of the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes before the Kerala High Court that in Singapore there is no entity by name `Kamala International Exports’, which allegedly belongs to the family of CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, has been seriously disputed by petitioner T P Nandakumar.

According to him, it is possible that consequent on the controversy, the functioning of the company might have been stopped. However, it is not difficult to check with the authorities like the Mayor or Municipal Corporation of Singapore whether at any time Kamala International Exports or any other similar firm was functioning in any building in Singapore. This admittedly has not been done. In 2005, M/s Kamala International Exports had launched a website containing all details and the company had accounts in one of the City Banks in Singapore.

The details available with the petitioner regarding it had been destroyed by the CPM activists while ransacking his office. The passports of Pinarayi , his wife Kamala and son Vivek show that they had made a number of visits to Singapore and stayed there.

Records regarding their stay there will be available.
