The central intelligence bureau has reported to the Union Home Ministry that armed training is conducted by certain Islamic organisations in the State. According to highly placed sources, the Intelligence bureau has also send warning signals to the state police top brass on the hard core militant training programmes meted out by the fundamentalist outfits.

It is learnt that the training centres are in the interior of the State including in forest tracts adjoining the Tamil Nadu border and the intelligence agency is verifying the antecedents of those participating and those implementing the training. There are reports that some foreign agencies are also involved in the highly sophisticated training programmes.

After the Gujarat police had spilled the beans on the involvement of a group of youths who had received training in the Vagamon area of Kottayam district to be behind the Ahmedabad blasts, the State has been put on a high alert by the central agencies. This include both the Intelligence bureau and the RAW .

The report from the IB has also mentioned of the presence of women guarding the training centres and all the major actions and programmes carried out during a terror attack is being taught to those who are taking part in the training programme.

The central agencies is also verifying the antecedents of certain senior leaders of an organisation which has recently spread its wings to other south Indian States and is trying to evolve a pan Indian presence. The intelligence agencies are of the opinion that this organisation is acting as a pivot to other terror groups within and outside the country and is now actively discussed in the intelligence circles as a cover to the operations carried out by SIMI.

The presence of some erstwhile Naxalite leaders in this organisation is seen as another cover to implement its agenda on the gullible public of the State. It may be recalled that there were serious allegations on the involvement of this organisation in the Marad killings in which seven Hindu fishermen youths were lynched in the open.

According to intelligence sleuths who had sneaked into the camps held by the militant organisations in the state, there are hard core items including riding a motor bike blind folded and using sword to cut the neck of the opponent. The fundamental outfit is using banana plants to practice this and a group of twenty youths are practicing this operation which according to the intelligence is one of the major lessons in terror operations.

Sources instate police told The Pioneer that the state DG of police has given strict instructions to police stations across the State to be vigilant over the recent warnings from the central agencies. The DGP has also given instructions to police officers in the rank of Sub Inspector and above to raid any places where armed training are reported .

The central agency has also reported on the involvement of the Keralite aeronautical engineer CAM Basheer to be the major fund raiser for SIMI from within and outside the country. The RAW has reported that the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim is one of the major sources of funds for the banned outfit
