Devaswom Board warning to low waged Priests, not to accept Dakshina from devotees!

via HK published on November 22, 2008

Sabarimala: Who are these Marxist Atheists to dictate whether a devotee should give Dakshina to a TemplePriest?

Devaswom Board by a circular has banned Priests from accepting Dakshina offered by devotees which is a long time tradition and imbibed in our culture. Cultureless Marxist intellectuals who lack spiritual understanding have no right to judge the Temple practices through his materialistic eyes.

Giving ‘Danam’ and ‘Dakshina’ are the right of each and every devotee and Marxist officers have no business in interfering in our day to day spiritual practices.

Ironically, The Salary scale of Temple priests are that of sweepers and watchers under Devaswom Board! For instance Sabarimala Melshanthi’s salary is Rs 1500 and that of Mallikapuram Melshanthi is Rs 750! On top of this discrimination those who are in power looting crores of Rs in the name of Sabarimala.

Temple
Priests
, especially those who serve Ayyappa during Mandala time devotes themselves for devotees in which their day starts from 3 am and ends only by 11 pm at night when temple closes after Harivarasanam.  The physical challenges are conquered with the blessings of lord ayyappa, But to overcome the mental torture posed by Devaswom Board we the devotees should stand by them.

While religious scholars enjoy full hand in other religious denominations like Christianity and Islam, our Temple priests are pushed down financially by vested interests.

The recent action by Devaswom Board is in tune of ranting by Anti Hindu Minister last year that accepting Dakshina by TemplePriests is similar to taking Bribe! During last year Devaswom Board even stooped to the level of conducting raids in Thantri’s room and fitting hidden cameras to check whether he is accepting any dakshina offered by devotees!

Hindu devotees itself should give a befitting reply to such attacks against our practices by materialistic atheist Minister and his servants Guptan & Co.
