Kannur: Lookout notices for terror men issued

The
Kerala Police on Friday issued lookout notices for top terror
operatives Nazeer of Neerchal, Kannur and Ibrahim Moulvi of Vellamunda,
Wayanad who were said to be the Lashkar-e-Tayyeba’s men in charge of
recruiting young men from Kerala to the terror forces.

The
notices asked the public to forward to the police any information they
had or came across in future about either or both of them. The lookout
notices were issued after search operation for about a month failed to
yield any result. The police had so far arrested ten operatives of the
LeT from Kannur, Malappuram, Kochi and Hyderabad.

However, the
police were still unable to get to the bottom of the terror network as
they had been unable to lay hands on the two top recruiters, and
another terror operative, Sajir, believed to be the top terror man in
Kerala. The police also believe that Nazeer and Moulvi would be the
easiest routes to tracking down Sajir.

The officials believe
that Nazeer was the executive recruiter of young men into the terror
network and the man to allocate the recruits to the training centres.
The police had got information from the arrested terror operatives that
terror men Muhammad Faiz and Muhammad Fayaz from Kannur, who were
killed by security forces in Kashmir in early October, were recruited
and sent to the training facility of LeT at Hyderabad by Nazeer.

According
to officials, Ibrahim Moulvi was the ‘terror counselor’, who took
classes in theology and on need of Jihad to the recruits as well as
prospective recruits. He had worked as Madrassa teacher, theology
teacher and hotel employee. The police thought that both the terror men
could have fled the State with the intensification of the terror hunt
by the Kerala Police and the resultant arrests of their colleagues.

The
police said Sajir alias Ayub (30) had married the niece of Ibrahim
Moulvi. They had already launched a massive manhunt for Sajir.
Officials said that they had got all the details of the trio and that
they could be arrested any time.

They also hoped that issuance
of the lookout notice would limit the travel options of Nazeer and
Moulvi following the circulation of their photographs and other
details. Though the general feeling was that the duo could have escaped
to outside Kerala, their presence still in the State was not being
fully ruled out. Officials said that the authorities in places like
Hyderabad had all the details of the duo.

According to sources
Sajir, an accused in the case regarding conspiracy in the murder
attempt on former chief minister EK Nayanar, was an expert at
controlling terror operations from underground. Sajir’s intense
international relations were far more extensive than all the eleven
operatives arrested and the two absconding extremists Nazeer and
Moulvi. An accused in the case of the Coimbatore serial blasts, he had
also got special training from LeT at several camps including those in
Pakistan.

Sajir had reportedly planned and executed the
recruitment of the five Malayalees and their transfer for training in
Kupwara, Kashmir. Thee were evidences which suggested that Sajir also
had visited the camp in Kashmir along with the five Malayalee
militants. Four of them were killed in an encounter with the security
forces early October in Lolab valley and Abdul Jabbar, the fifth, who
had escaped the action with injuries, was arrested from Hyderabad on
November 22.
