KANNUR: After a long spell of vacillation, the CPM has initiated the process to show him the door. A P Abdullakkutty MP, representing the Kannur Lok Sabha constituency, has been asked to explain reasons for heaping praise on Narendra Modi and the Gujarat model of development.
Abdullakkutty has already received the letter from CPM district secretary P Sasi seeking his explanation on the embarrassing remarks made by him supporting Narendra Modi.
Abdullakkutty, who is in New Delhi, is expected to give his explanation to the CPM district committee after he returns to Kannur on January 16. Sasi had stated in the letter that ‘it is known through the mainstream media that you had made some comments supporting Gujarat Chief Minister while talking to the media which is against the party line.’ Sasi had asked him to explain his stand.
Abdullakkutty made the comment on December 28 while he was in Dubai. There was only a small gathering of expatriates and some journalists from Kerala when he made the comment.
Journalists from Kerala, who were in Dubai then, said ‘Abdullakkutty had stated that Kerala should follow the examples set by Narendra Modi as regards implementation of development projects. He had also cited Narendra Modi’s action of inviting Tata to relocate the Nano car factory to Gujarat to prove his point.
