Christian Nayans is Hindu goddess’s devotee

When her fans in Tamil
Nadu are worshipping her at the temple they built for her, South
glamour queen Nayantara worships her own gods in Kerala. In a sense,
she is the tinsel world symbol of secularism in belief, because she,
born Diana Kurien to a conservative Christian family, is an ardent
devotee of Hindu gods of the famous Chettikulangara and Mannarassala
temples. She offered a Thulabhara at the Bhagavathy temple at
Chettikulangara the other day.

The Thulabhara, rite of offering
something valuable to the deity in equal weight of the body of the
devotee, was offered in plantains by Nayantara. At least, the occasion
became an opportunity for her disciples to know her bodyweight. The
slim glamour queen is not so light in body: She weighed 60 kilos in
plantains.

The star reached the Chettikulangara temple at around
11 am on Friday and after prayers she offered Thulabhara, one of the
most important rituals in the temple. Nayantara also ate the lunch
(Kanji and Puzhukku) provided by the temple to all devotees and
returned home.

Praying at Chettikulangra temple is a routine
affair for Nayans. “I always go to temples whenever I get time to be in
Kerala. In fact, this is the second time I offered Thulabharaat
Chettikulangara. It was sort of thanksgiving to Bhagavathy”. Indeed,
Nayans believes that all these fortunes had come her way just because
of the blessings of Chettikulangara Bhagavathy.
