THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate L.K. Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the State to pep up BJP’s election prospects during the second phase of campaigning, BJP leaders said.

“Both Advani and Modi will be coming. When and where have not been decided. But it will be in the second phase, when nominations have been filed and campaigning enters the second phase,” BJP state spokesperson M.S. Kumar told reporters here on Tuesday.

The BJP has bright prospects in Kerala this time around, Kumar said, adding that the SNC-Lavalin and Vizhinjam Port controversies would be highlighted, alongside the Madhani issue. Kumar demanded the Congress to clarify its stand on controversies linked to the UDF candidate in Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, especially those involving the National Anthem, artist M.F. Husain and an earlier criticism of Sonia Gandhi in his works.

“The High Court has issued a notice to Tharoor on the National Anthem issue. Voters in Thiruvananthapuram would certainly like to know the Congress response on the matter. The Congress candidate is a person who insults the National Anthem,” he said.
