CPI meet begins with CPM-bashing
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Â The post-mortem, by the CPI executive, of the electoral debacle suffered by the LDF began with CPM-bashing on Friday.
The day-long session saw many members venting their anger on the CPM as well as the top leadership of the CPI.
According to CPI leaders, the defeat in the election was mainly owing to the SNC-Lavalin case and the PDP alliance. The major criticism was that the CPI, as the second largest constituent in the Front, had failed to uphold the interest of the Front in both cases.
The party should have shown the guts to tell the CPM that Lavalin was not its internal issue, observed an executive member. The members who lauded the initial efforts of the CPI to criticise the PDP alliance alleged that later the CPI had surrendered to the CPM.
The stand taken by the CPI when Janata Dal(S) was ousted also invited criticism from members.
Members from Thiruvananthapuram, Mavelikkara, Thrissur and Wayanad alleged that the CPM hadn’t worked hard for the CPI candidates in those constituencies. The two-day meeting of CPI state council to dissect the election results will begin on Saturday.
