The city of Kollam will witness God’s Own Country’s biggest-ever show of patriotic spirit on Wednesday evening when more than one lakh uniformed RSS volunteers will converge at the Ashramam Grounds in the presence of a multitude of supporters and sympathizers for the Kerala Pranth Sanghik. RSS chief Mohan Bhagavat, who is visiting the State for the first time after assuming office, will address the gathering at the Sanghik.

Organizers said all preparations had been completed for the event. A large number of overseas Malayalees would be present at the Pranth Sanghik, which would be a literal display of strength of Kerala Swayamsevaks spread over many countries, they said. The Sanghik would be the first ever disciplined gathering of so many Swayamsevaks in uniform at one place at one time, they claimed. A Ghosh Sanchalan, in which 750 band-members participated, was held on Tuesday evening in Kollam heralding the Pranth Sanghik.

The 100,000 RSS volunteers performing the drills as part of the Sanghik have been selected from more than 5,000 villages in Kerala. Around 50,000 RSS sympathizers from the districts of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam will also attend the Sanghik which will begin with the flag-hoisting ceremony (Dhwajarohan) at 5.00 pm. It will be followed by the mass drill of the RSS volunteers and the RSS chief will address the meet at 5.30 pm at a function to be presided over by Sangh’s Pranth Sanghachalak PEB Menon.

Stating that all preparations for the event had been completed, the reception committee said that arrangements for parking about 4,000 vehicles had been made after discussions with police officers. Women teachers will be in charge of distribution of drinking water. About 100,000 (one lakh) litres of water would be made available from the Kollam Municipal Corporation and about 200,000 litres from nearby houses.

The organizers also said that IT professionals had made arrangements to help the Sanghiks and sympathizers who could not make it to the venue for various reasons could watch the event live on websites www.rsskerala.com and www.pranthasanghik10.com from 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm Wednesday.
