Recipe for Success -1
In Kerala the left movement could position themselves as the true heir of the Sreenarayana Guru’s social reformation movement.Thats how they could win mass support of the downtrodden people of Kerala. One must know that the social conditions in Kerala during the first decades of 20th century was conducive for the emergence of a left movement. Even Swamy Vivekanandan had described then that Kerala as a lunatic house. Such was the rigid caste structure and the discriminatory practices and untouchability prevalent in those times. The left had indeed played a positive role.
But with the passage of time the revolutionary left has become part of the establishment and they have lost all their progressive character. Even now they swear by the downtrodden but that is only in their speech. In actual practice they represent the interests of the NGOs ,affluent middle class and the wealthy. More over the leaders of the left had become corrupt and they are willing to compromise with anything for the sake of money. The most shocking thing is that they are fast becoming a tool in the hands of anti-india forces. If the Hindutva forces have to make any inroads in Kerala they must start from where Sreenarayana Guru had stopped. 5

Recipe for Success
Uphold the great legacy of Sree Narayana Guru. They must position them as the most progressive force than the left. They should act as a catalyst for social change. They must be in the forefront to educate people against superstitions, outdated rituals and practices. They must convince the people of Kerala that they are the true secularists. They must allay all the apprehensions of the minority communities .The nationalists among the minorities must be brought in the leadership positions . Most of the fears about hindutva forces were created in the minds of the minority communities by the constant and vigorous propaganda by the left parties. The Hindutva organizations should be the first to take up common man’s issues. The hindutva forces must revamp their organizational structure in the most scientific way.Dont just be a passive onlooker of the politics played by the casteist and community leaders. Face them head on and go to the people of Kerala and try to build your own support base.Believe in the people.Discard all the outdated beliefs and encourage the highest level of scholarship among the people.Create a new row of intellectuals who can support you. Be transparent in your opinions, actions and strategies.Encourage public discussion about grey areas. Understand the Kerala psyche thoroughly before implementing new strategies.Draw inspiration from great saints like Sankaracharya, Sree Narayana guru ,Chattambi Swamikal and social reformers like Ayyankali, AKG,Kelappan etc. 5
